Following the Journey as Stadium History Becomes Public Art|
Update: July 28, 2025
We’re excited to announce that Bobby Trice of Bobby Trice Art has been selected as the winning artist for the Walls of Legacy: Aloha Stadium Sculpture Challenge!
Out of an incredible pool of talented local artists, Bobby’s concept stood out for its creativity and strong connection to the Aloha Stadium’s 49-year legacy. His vision not only honors the history of the stadium, but transforms its iconic corrugated metal and stadium seats into public art that will live on for the public to enjoy at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet & Marketplace.
As we enter Phase 2 of the project, Bobby will begin the process of bringing his concept to life — using salvaged pieces of the original stadium to create a visually striking, photo-worthy sculpture. His work will become a nostalgic landmark and a lasting tribute to the memories, milestones, and moments that made Aloha Stadium such a special place for our community.
Bobby Trice grew up in Mililani on the island of Oʻahu and is a proud graduate of Mililani High School, where he still resides today. A U.S. Army veteran who served as a mechanic during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Bobby brings both discipline and creativity to his artistic journey.
From a young age, Bobby had a vivid imagination and a passion for art. He is a self-taught scrap metal sculpture artist who doesn’t limit himself to just one medium. For over a decade, his one-of-a-kind creations have been featured at the Hale‘iwa Arts Festival and displayed at Kualoa Ranch. Bobby crafts his pieces at home, often taking his larger sculptures on the road — displayed from the back of his pickup truck — with his family proudly helping to promote his art throughout the island.
We’ll be following Bobby’s journey from concept to completion — sharing updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and artist insights along the way.
Stay connected as we bring a piece of Aloha Stadium’s history back to life at the Swap Meet — honoring its rich past while looking toward the future.
